New media takes over. It’s 2015. Newspapers have cut their reporting of live events. A lot of it is happening on YouTube and related social media, bloggers, and online wire services.
September 14, 2015: Chicago Tribune reviews both North Coast Music Festival and Riot Fest (back to back Chicago fests) - extensive coverage of both festivals. We ran Stage 2 at both, and many of the artists mentioned were on our stage. Riot Fest got great reviews in Huffington Post, and The Guardian, as well.
We love the Broadway In Chicago Summer Concert at Pritzker Pavilion, Millennium Park, Chicago. We got a terrific review for a sold-out “genial and fast moving” melange of 15 shows, in Aug 2014, in the Chicago Tribune, with Dee Snyder and a parade of great talent. Here’s the 2012 review in The Tribune, with Cyndi Lauper for Kinky Boots, Joey the amazing puppet from War Horse, Cathy Rigby as Peter Pan, and many other performers.
September 2, 2012: Chicago Tribune gives the nod to more EDM at North Coast Music Festival. Huffington Post did an interesting fashion photo review of the attendees, characterizing the festival as “EDM, Jam, Hip-Hop”. Right on.
June 20, 2010. Robert Plant made an unannounced appearance with Los Lobos and Los Lonely Boys, and the news broke here:
Dec 10, 2010: Lisa Torem wrote a nice article about my theatre sound design work (specifically, for Karen’s production of To Kill A Mockingbird at Chase Park Theater), for The Examiner.
Oct 13, 2008: Gretchen Wilson & Taylor Swift at Chicago Country Music Festival, first time ever at Soldier Field’s green space. Chicago Tribune review. Chicago Sun-Times review.
Jun 27, 2008: Chaka Khan at Taste of Chicago, , for KoboTech and the Mayor’s Office of Special Events. Chicago Tribune review.
Jun 28, 2008: Stevie Wonder at Taste of Chicago, for KoboTech and the Mayor’s Office of Special Events. Chicago Tribune review. This show was an amazing confluence of politics and culture. Yes, amazing.
Jul 3, 2008: Tom’s band, Cobalt and the Hired Guns, got a wonderful write-up in the Chicago Sun-Times. The feature article focuses on their “green” efforts. Click HERE to see the story. (Tom did the interview from backstage at a corporate show we were producing in Las Vegas.)
A terrific thing happened the week of April 23, 2007. The Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times covered four major programs we helped with in five days. It’s great to get such wonderful press coverage.
On Sat Apr 21 we helped produce a charitable benefit for Children’s Place Association at the Civic Opera House in Chicago. That gala was reported extensively in the society page on Monday.
On Tuesday, we helped produce a major press conference for Virgin Atlantic and Boeing. Held at Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry, the event announced Virgin’s purchase of a large fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, and touting the environmental benefits of that aircraft. That made business news around the world the following day.
On Thursday, there was a half-page ad announcing the first Looptopia. This new event, modeled on “White Night” events in Rome, Montreal and Paris included new spectacle pieces from our friends at Redmoon Theatre. This show was a huge hit when it played on May 11, drawing massive crowds to a diverse entertainment roster in the Loop. We managed a quarter of the event onsite.
And on Friday, the theatre reviews included Karen’s production of Shakespeare’s Richard III at Chase Park Theater. This play set box office records and continued the growth of Karen’s theatre mission.
It was a good week, and it’s great to have so many projects in our Chicago base. Many thanks to our clients for bringing Fort Production Management into their event teams for management and leadership, and to the men and women on the Chicago casts & crews that made it happen.
In November, 2006, we produced the worldwide launch of the Nintendo Wii system, in Times Square NYC. It’s old news now, but on the day of the launch, we made news around the world.
